*fangirl ears perk up at mention of Sherlock* HELLO. Hey, hi, you watch Sherlock YES this is a very good thing I shall fangirl with you. What to fangirl about? Plots? Characters? Writing? Actors? DAT CLIFFHANGER- assuming you've seen The Reichenbach Fall? ...EVERYTHING?
Ah, great. I'm not a big fan of JohnLock, personally- I see them more as best friends for life- but yes, if you're a fan of that I'll respect it too. Mutual respect of differing opinions, yes? That is a good thing.
Augh, I knoooow they're not even going to begin filming until sometime in 2013. D: So I'd estimate next series to air... mid to late 2013? Gah, such a long wait. I'm tiding myself over then by remembering that the Moff is busy with Doctor Who and Martin's working on The Hobbit and those are both awesome things that I am looking forward to very much. So I can wait a bit for more Sherlock. Plus there was about a year and a half hiatus between series 1 and 2, so this is sort of the same... and I'd say a bit more bearable since the cliffhanger isn't nearly as brutal as the one from series 1. XD Though there's still the issue of how Sherlock faked his death, at least he's alive... and one isn't spending a year and a half waiting, wondering 'omg is Sherlock going to blow up the vest how are they going to get out of this situation what is going to happpennnnn?!' (and then after a year and a half of speculation and waiting... the Bee Gees happens! ) Though I began watching the show last July, so I only had 6 months to wait. I'd imagine for those who watched the series as it aired, the wait had to have been rather excruciating... and definitely speculation filled. As it is now, actually. All the speculation and fanfic and such. XDD As for teasers, Moff and Gatiss have been tossing a few of them around in interviews... cryptically, as they do. Mostly things like in the next series John might not be very okay/possibly rather angry at Sherlock's reappearance, as opposed to book canon.
ROFL, I wasnt able to have teh feels for the season 1 cliffhanger because when I started to watch, the second season was already out. But man, Reichenbach killed me.. John's emotions are what do that to you. Thats why i'm so anxious for the next.
I actually read that it will be airing in the UK in January 2013. Could be wrong but thats what i saw. But i suppose the wait is what one should expect seeing as the episodes are like movies XD
Well, yeah. This version of John I can see getting so mad at Sherlock. I think what has to stop happening is the whole "Well, the boooooks.... *hatehatehate*" I mean, it IS a modern adaptation ( not talking about you, btw. just some fans i've seen) x3 I say just enjoy the show and if you dont, move on to something else XD Of course i could be biased cuz the only Sherlock things i've seen are the movies and this series.
Then you were spared the agony of waiting. Congratulations! Oh yesss, about a minute into the episode and I was bawling. XDD And then by the end of the episode when John is standing by the grave doing that speech... I was like 'GIVE MARTIN FREEMAN ANOTHER BAFTA.'
Oh, really? Hmmm... I thought it was filming in 2013, will have to check.
I bet he'll punch him. XD Aw, stuff from the books is the best part! After all, the writers of the show are massive Sherlock Holmes fans. What I love about the show is that it takes many, many things from book-canon and updates them or expands on them or cleverly twists them around. It adds a whole new dimension to the show; if you've read the books there are lots of moments where you recognize something and go 'oh, that's clever!' and it's quite lovely. ...Though I think you're probably talking about the strict-canon people who are like 'NO THEY CHANGED SOMETHING THAT IS NOT HOW IS WAS IN CANON RAAAGE'. Unless you're referring to Irene, who seems to be a polarizing figure no matter what version of Sherlock you're talking about so try not to be too bothered by it. XD Actually, I should have said it before: WELCOME TO THE SHERLOCK FANDOM. It's full of lovely people, but there are also the Fan Dumb (see TV Tropes for the definition if you don't already know it). Quite a few of the FD are on tumblr. Seriously, venturing into the Sherlock tag after the episodes aired in January just made me angry because of so many misinterpretations and disagreements and strong opinions, so. Don't let it get to you.
Yeah! A minute into the episode, I just wanted to cry! Its just the way John said it with such feeling ;____;
I think its great when they do things that are really canon from the books, dont get me wrong. Its just with some fans, like you said, they rage if its even a little bit different and call it...O____o BORING. I cant say this show has EVER had a dull moment XD So it amazes me when they say stuff like that
ROFL, I dont like Irene in any version i've seen XD
Indeed! XD Atleast I agree with a majority of the Sherlock fandom. I just come across those fandumb people sometimes XD
I definitely love it. 'Modernizing' a classic so often goes so wrong, but they managed to accomplish it VERY successfully. Sure, Baskerville was nothing like the original and I didn't like that they interpreted Irene Adler as actually 'evil,' but the integration of modern events and technology into Sir Arther Conan Doyle's classic stories is practically seamless, and most of the cases still rely on their original elements. Whoever directed and wrote this really knew what they were doing. I just wish I hadn't missed 'Reichenbach.' I was looking forward to seeing how they interpreted that.
She was still more 'evil' than Conan Doyle depicted her. As I saw it, she had NO qualms about hurting others and occasionally did these things just for the 'fun' of it. Still, Holmes was able to bring her at least a little redemption in the end, and she did grow to love him, even if she did claim lesbianism.
Eh, i suppose XD Its kinda like that convo she had with John. She basically said "I'm gay, you're not but Sherlock is the exception for us both" I could probably guess you're not one for slash but its so obvious here XD John likes him
